Data Methodology & Verification
How FilterEquiv aggregates official manufacturer interchanges to produce a unified, specification-verified cross-reference database.
The Problem with Blind Interchange Tables
Conventional filter lookup sites present flat lists of part numbers with zero dimensional context. In reality, two filters can share an identical thread pitch (e.g. 3/4-16 UNF) while possessing vastly different gasket seat diameters, overall canister heights, or bypass valve opening pressures.
Installing an improper bypass pressure filter can cause cold-start engine oil starvation or unfiltered oil bypass. FilterEquiv was created to display the physical engineering specifications side by side.
The 2-Hop Equivalence Graph
Each manufacturer only publishes “my part replaces their part”. None publish a global multi-brand matrix. FilterEquiv builds a transitive graph across official OEM & aftermarket catalogs:
Authorized Catalog Sources
Our pipeline extracts data strictly from public OEM and Tier-1 aftermarket documentation, including Baldwin Filters, Donaldson Engine Aftermarket, Fleetguard (Cummins Filtration), WIX Filters, Caterpillar (CAT), SF-Filter Europe, and K&N Engineering.
